Peacock - Leather Bag

A symbol of wealth, beauty, and pride, the peacock has appeared across the visual cultures of Southeastern Europe as a marker of status, ceremony, and ornament. Often associated with royal and aristocratic iconography, its form echoes through architecture, textiles, and decorative arts.

This work translates the peacock into a portable icon — an object that exists between sculpture and everyday life. Activated by the body, it reflects on how symbols of prestige and identity are carried, displayed, and lived with. The reflective center functions as a contemporary eye, referencing memory, time, and the persistence of beauty within changing cultural contexts.

Constructed from genuine leather and mixed materials (CD-rom), the piece is fully wearable and functions as a small carrier, while remaining primarily a sculptural object. Its scale invites intimacy rather than spectacle, positioning the icon close to the body and within daily movement.
